Louisville, I Love You

The past two years in Louisville at Boyce College and Southern Seminary have been the best two years of my life. God has graciously given me many life-long friends, allowed me to be a part of an incredible local church, and shown me innumerable things, both in the classroom and in life. Besides being at a great school, Louisville is a really cool city. I dig coffee shops, good food, and quality concerts, and the 502 has all of those.

Because of all of that, it’s bittersweet for me to say that I won’t be returning to Boyce College and Southern Seminary. The primary reason is financial; debt can kill dreams, and my situation financially for the future doesn’t look great if I choose to finish school in Louisville. Along with that, there are some philosophical and theological differences; nothing that divide believers from loving one another and pursuing the Kingdom on earth together, but such that are relevant when choosing the institution that you get your education and degree from.

As for the future, this coming semester I’ll likely be in either Charlotte, interning at the fantastic church I’ve been at this summer, or in Los Angeles pursuing an opportunity at an incredible church out there. I’m expectant and excited for what’s to come. If you would, be praying for guidance from the Holy Spirit as I make these decisions. Deciding between right and wrong is easy; selecting between multiple good options is far more difficult.

To all my friends, I love you. And this isn’t goodbye; I hope to get up to Louisville this semester. I’m thankful for a God far bigger than any plan we can make, a God with a path far more glorious than we can imagine. I’m thankful that though the path I’m taking is different than I expected, my purpose remains the same. He’s the One leading me in this season, and as sad as I am to leave so many people I love, I can rest knowing that He holds every single one of us in His hands.

UPDATE 8/27/17

I’ve officially decided to stay in Charlotte for this semester, and am living at home while I continue to serve on staff at FBC Charlotte. I’m praying, and would ask you to join me, that God would give me great effectiveness and passion where I am, as well as guidance for the future.

Also, I will be in Louisville during the third week of September, the 18th through the 22nd. I can’t wait to see everyone! If you’re reading this and live in Louisville, I want to see you when I’m there in a few weeks.
